Pizza dai Cinque

Rome / Lazio / Italy - 6/24/16

And one more for the road. This was the other small pizzeria close to our hotel when in Rome and had pretty much the same things on sale as Non Solo Pizza. The pizzas were sold by weight and did not cost much at all. There were some arancinis (rice balls with stuffing such as cheese and tomato sauce) for sale as well, so we got a few of those for a quick take away snack at the hotel.

The pizza was very good, but we did like the crust on the Non Solo Pizza a bit more and maybe the toppings as well. Still a great deal for this hearty and delicious food. The arancini rice balls were a bit dry to my taste.

Mythos

Rome / Lazio / Italy - 6/26/16

Another short one from Rome, this was after a walk in the evening where we decided to get a little pizza and some Greek food to take to the hotel. Mythos is a small restaurant along the Viale Ippocrate, where our hotel was located at.

I felt like a gyro (4e) and we decided also to get a (gyro) plate with chicken, tzatziki, fries and salad (7e) and a small Greek salad (5,50e) on the side.

The food was ok, the tzatziki was wonderfully garlicky, but other than that it did not really impress us too much. Suitable for an evening snack, but the gyros would’ve needed some extra sauces (hummus etc) or something to spruce them up. The salad also could have used more dressing, now it tasted mainly of dried oregano.

Non Solo Pizza

Rome / Lazio / Italy - 6/26/16

Ok, so now for something completely different. When in Rome (and Italy for that mattes), you have to get some pizza. And one of the best places to get that pizza is from a hole-in-the-wall that serves up slices. There were two on the Viale Ippocrate, where we stayed. They were both very good, but I think this one had a slightly better crust to their pizza and a very friendly service.

Rome / Lazio / Italy - 6/26/16

We got pizza from here a couple of times, Margherita and Crudo and maybe Caprese (we picked these out mostly by pointing). All of the pizzas were delicious, everything was fresh and the slices were quickly heated through in the oven before packing them to go. The prices vary as they are weight based, but the price point is low, so we spent less than 20e for enough pizza for five people.

Oh, and the feeling when getting pizza while Span and Italy were playing football and this restaurant was packed full of young men watching the match? Priceless!
